I was walking down the creek area of Bur Dubai (That’s where I stay when I visit Dubai) Wednesday. The Weather was amazing so instead of taking to the gym, I decided to walk and job and exercise. The creek in itself is a nice place, there are some nice small boats, few people and lots of fresh air against the concrete jungle.

On wednesday morning I saw a guy, probably in his early 40’s dressed up in neatly and smiling at everyone. There were a few people to whom he greeted too, wished them and shook hands. (I think this depended on the way you react to the smile). I on day 1, I smiled back and he wished me and I felt really good. I was surprised if there could be someone like this too.

Day 2 also the same happened. He shook his hand and asked me where I was staying and my name and so on. I was puzzled. This guy knows no one and yet wishes everyone everyday.

Day 3 was very interesting for me. I decided that I shall see the reactions of people who were greeted by this guy’s smile. Few were smiling back, few staring at him, many not knowing how to react and few looking away and so on. This guy would be let down and smiled at possible people. So I decided to talk to him and find out why he was doing (I am a curious guy you see!) What he told was interesting for me!

He said, he was so used to not smiling at people because of work or at home. He was upset with himself a lot of times and thats when he decided that he was going to lead a much more happy life and make others too happy. “I do not lose anything and in fact early in the morning I feel so nice smiling and when people smile back. I am sure all those who smile back would have a nice great day and I feel so happy and satisfied that I made a few people smile” is what he said.

I was stunned at this guy in what ways he decided to make a difference in people. When we find it so difficult to smile and be happy, here is a guy who makes others smile at no cost for you. I decided that I shall smile at 10 people every morning. Let me start it today and see if I can consistently do it. I wish I could !!!
